As we pause to reflect on 25 incredible years of learning and growth, we are overwhelmed with gratitude for our clients who, for some, have been with us for many of those years.
Our story is one of adaptation and resilience. From the vicissitudes of an ever-changing market to the rapid expansion of the digital world, we chose to stay focused on our core values: Quality, and Customer Service. It is these two principles that allowed us to nurture strong bonds with our customers and to carve out a niche for our services in the competitive nature of our industry.
LAT was incorporated in British Columbia in 1999 under the name: L.A. Translations & Design by our founder, Lise Alain, originally from Québec City. Our mission at the time was to help Canadian brands such as Future Shop, Mountain Equipment Coop, and Rogers Video, meet Quebec’s language requirements as they opened stores in the French province. Soon after, in 2001, we boldly decided to sponsor BC’s Olympic Bid with in-kind translation services. We did not know it at the time, but this initiative was an exercise in relationship building. The professionals creating content for VANOC in the first decade of 2000 became friends of LAT who, to this day, continue to come to us or to refer our services for language adaptation.
In 2013, as we grew more and more, we rebranded to LAT Multilingual Translation & Marketing, recognizing the expanding role of digital marketing and social media in connecting clients with multilingual audiences.
The company naturally evolved into a full-service multicultural services agency helping our partners with both their translation and marketing needs.
LAT Multilingual now supports clients across Canada and the US with professional translation, localization, and marketing adaptation services, and also helps brands enter the North American market. We make sure that all their communications resonate with French Canadians in Quebec, as well as with their existing and new customers across North America’s increasingly diverse marketplace.
Our 25th anniversary is more than a milestone; it is a moment to celebrate the people who have made LAT what it is today. From our dedicated team of professional in-market translators who are the experts of cultural nuances and adaptations, our incredible project managers who ensure our core values of quality and customer services are reflected in each project, to our clients who trust us to help them reach new markets — we owe our success to you.
I just wanted to reach out with a big thank you for LAT’s great work and incredible turnaround. I really appreciate it, and I will definitely reach out again for the next translation service we may need.

We are proud to have recently become a Certified B Corp, which stands witness to our commitment to giving back to our communities, and to promote inclusivity, diversity, and environmental sustainability in all that we do.
As we look forward to the future, the next chapter promises even more exciting opportunities.
“My hope for LAT is that it continues to be a place where people feel valued as team members and as clients,” says Lise Alain.
“In a world that is constantly evolving”, says Julie Wong-Gravend, LAT’s Vice President, “and where actions are sometimes slow to follow, LAT has always been surprisingly avant-garde in its values and policies. We have been quick to adapt to the needs of our clients and have always fostered a climate of inclusion in our team. We are professionals with a sense of purpose. I’m very excited to see what the next 25 years will bring us, and what we will be bringing to the table.”
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this remarkable 25-year journey. Here’s to the future!
